The influence of operational parameters on reduce of azithromyin COD from wastewater using the peroxi-electrocoagulation process

© 2015. The present study is to investigate the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal of the Azithromycin from synthetic wastewater by electrochemical oxidation process. The electrochemical oxidation process was carried out on the synthetic wastewater and the effects of operational parameters such as pH, amount of hydrogen peroxide, applied voltage, current density and electrolysis time on COD removal efficiency were investigated and the optimum conditions were determined and calculated. Results indicated that under the optimum operating range for process, the COD removal efficiency reached 95.6% for initial concentration 190mgL -1 . The optimum values were determined for the peroxi-electrocoagulation process: [current density]=20mAcm -2 , [hydrogen peroxide concentration]=2mgL -1 , [electrolysis time]=60min, [mean energy consumption] =2.5kWh (kg Azithromycin) -1 and [pH] 3.0. Also, the results of kinetic studies were best fitted the pseudo- second- order equation.
